Softball: Wildcats Down Fires
The Central Clarion Wildcats Softball team traveled to Marienville, on Wednesday (May 15th) to face the Forest Area Fires at East Forest and came away with an 8-3 win.
Forest Area took the early lead, with a run in the bottom of the first inning, but the Wildcats came back to score their eight runs in the fourth, to take an 8-1 lead. The Fires closed out the scoring with a run apiece in the sixth and seventh.
Alyssa Wiant had a big game for the Wildcats, with 2 hits, 2 runs scored and two RBIs. Sam Simpson had 2 hits and drove in a run.
Abby Knapp-Greeley, Kaylee Smith and Jenna Dunn each scored a run and drove in a run. Emeleigh Mahle, Alexa Kitchen and Alicyn Burford each scored a run.
Wildcats Coach Joe Lopez was pleased with his team’s performance. “Great defense and pitching resulted in yesterdays success. The second time through the lineup we adjusted our approach to lay off the rise balls that Flick had working well. Offensively, our ladies did a good job of shrinking the zone and swinging at pitches they could handle.”
The Wildcats are scheduled to travel to Brockway today (Thursday, May 16th).
(Keep up the good work, Wildcats!!!!)
