Korrin Burns Records 500th Kill In St. Francis Career, Earns Another NEC Award
Former Clarion Area Bobcats standout Korrin Burns, a junior Outside Hitter for NCAA Division I Saint Francis University, reached a major milestone, by notching her 500th career kill in a Red Flash uniform.
Korrin’s 500th kill came against tournament host Purdue Fort Wayne at the Purdue Fort Wayne Invitational at the Gates Sports Center, in Fort Wayne, on Friday, September 20th.
The Red Flash went 1-and-2 in the tournament, downing the Indiana State Sycamores in their first match on Friday before dropping falling to Purdue Fort Wayne in the second Friday game and their match with the Eastern Michigan Eagles on Saturday, September 21st.
Korrin registered double-digit kills in all three matches. She totaled 41 total kills and also added six service aces (4 against Indiana State).
For her fine play, Korrin was named as a Prime Performer for the week of September 16th, by the Northeast Conference (NEC). Some of her stats for the week include, .163 hitting percentage, 4.55 points per set, 3.37 kills per set, 2.36 digs per set, 0.55 service aces per set.
Korrin leads the NEC in kills per set (3.81) and points per set (4.50).
This was Korrin’s third Prime Performer nod this season, to go along with being named NEC Player of the Week for the week of September 2nd. She also was named Player of the Week twice, last season.
Korrin’s teammate Maggie Hogan was also named a Prime Performer.
