Wildcat Harriers Down Warriors
The Central Clarion Wildcats defeated the homestanding Moniteau Warriors in Keystone Shortway Athletic Conference cross country action on Tuesday (September 10th), with all four Wildcat teams coming away with wins. The Varsity boys won 27-35, with the Varsity girls coming out on top by a 22-36 margin. The Junior High boys were victorious at 24-35 and the Junior High girls won their race 20-41.
Wildcats Coach Nicole Oakes said, “It was a warm evening, and the first regular season away meet of the season. Moniteau always has a challenging course, the kids talk about it throughout the season. Despite those things, all four of the Central Clarion teams came out with wins.
“The Jr. High girls, this time, were the team that came out with the biggest win, finishing 20 to 41 over the Warriors.”
Bryn Anderson led the Wildcat Junior High Girls, running a 17:16, to finish second. The Cats also took the next four places: Hannah Love (18:02) – third, Tenley Kiskadden (18:38) – fourth, Lauren Emings (19:51) – fifth and Mya Coradi (20:45) – sixth. Brianna Mogus (21:05) was eighth and, Ellie Miller (21:56) ninth.
About the younger boys, coach Oakes said, “In Junior High boys, Griffin Edmonds and Jackson Baker again finished with strong taking the 1 and 2 spots.”
Griffin and Jackson were both clocked at 15:06. Central Clarion also took the sixth through tenth spots: Noah Fredrick (17:12) – sixth, Blaise Fleisher (7:34) – seventh, Alex McGinley (17:51) – eighth, Mason Strattan (17:51) – ninth and Liam Moore (18:03) – tenth.
Coach Oakes said, “For Varsity, we had some shake ups in our finishing order this week.
“Julianna Schwabenbauer was the first finisher for the Central Clarion team and first female finisher of the race. Hayden Weber and Josh Turner took the first two spots on the Varsity boys side, leading us to a 20 to 37 win.”
Julianna’s winning time for the girls’ race was 22:10. The other Central Clarion runners included: Eliza Datko (23:24) – third, Olivia Radaker (25:47) – fifth, Reise Jackson (25:47) – sixth place, Livia McGinley (26:09) – seventh and Dana Coulson (27:01) – eighth.
Hayden’s first place time in the boys’ race was18:22, with Josh crossing the line at 18:47. The other Wildcat runners were, Drake Edmonds (18:57) – fourth, Logan Powell (20:08) – sixth, Jonas Willshire (20:56) – seventh, Caleb Turner (22:35) – tenth and AJ Mecusker (23:18) – eleventh.
The Wildcats are scheduled to take part in tomorrow’s (Saturday, September 14th) Commodore Perry Invitational in Hadley.
