Wildcats Girls Soccer Falls To Karns City

The Central Clarion Wildcats Girls soccer team fell to the visiting Karns City Gremlins 9-1 on Tuesday (September 3rd).

JJ Wilson scored the Wildcats goal at the 14:23 mark of the first half, with a flick over the goalie’s head. Morgan Scheftic had the assist on the play.

The halftime score was 6-1.

Goalkeeper Megan Powell had 23 saves, with nine coming in the first half and 14 in the second.

Wildcats Coach, Abbi Petrosky had this to say about Powell’s play, “While the score didn’t go our way, Powell made some pretty key saves throughout the game to keep the score in single digits.”

Coach Petrosky had this to say about the Wildcats’ drive and some of the challenges they face, “We knew this was going to be a tough one, and we came out looking a little flat, but the girls found some energy after our goal and began to challenge every ball.

“With a small roster, we’ve played a couple teams who have been able to sub out their whole team at one time, and it can be daunting. These girls continue to step up to the challenge and play through to the end of every game regardless of the score.”

The Wildcats’ next game is Thursday (September 5th) against the Forest Area Flames. That match is part of a Boys and Girls double-header, which is a big fundraiser for North Clarion athlete Grace Carroll, who is battling Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. The Forest Fires Girls Soccer team is hosting the event. The boys will be playing at 4:00 pm and the girls will play at 6:00 pm. There will be concessions sold, as well as a donation table for Miss Carroll’s benefit.

(Keep up the hard work, Wildcats!!!!)
