Central Clarion’s Mason Gourley Captures 172 Pound Title At Prestigious 2024 Mat-Town USA Fall Wrestling Classic

Central Clarion Wildcat Mason Gourley went undefeated in claiming the 172 pound championship at the 2024 Mat-Town USA Fall Classic, at Lock Haven University’s Thomas Field House on Sunday, October 20th.

This prestigious tournament, the longest running pre-season tournament in the country, hosts 500 wrestlers from 8-Under to High School.

Mason sported a 5-0 record.

He began with a win by fall, over Riley Best of Falconer, New York in the Round of 32. Mason downed Nicholas McKeown of Fish Eye WC in the Round of 16, with a 20-3 Technical Fall.

Next it was on to the Quarterfinals, where Mason posted the first of three straight one-point wins, downing Jacob Weaver of Central Mountain 4-3.

The Semifinals saw Mason defeat Jaden Wehler of Titan WC 1-0.

Mason finished the competition with a 1-0 victory over Cole Wetzel from Shikellamy, to claim the Champion Shirt.

Wildcats Wyatt Aaron (128 Pounds ) and Grayson Aaron (134 Pounds) also competed in the tournament.

Wildcats head coach Braun Gourley shared, “It is always good to see Wildcat wrestlers competing in the preseason. We are looking forward to the start of our high school season on November 15th.”
