Former Bobcat Korrin Burns Named All-ECAC 2024 Division I Women’s Volleyball Team, Also Named To College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team

Former Clarion Area Bobcat Standout Korrin Burns, a member of the St. Francis University Red Flash, received two major recognitions in mid-December, being named to the Eastern College Athletic Conference’s (ECAC) Division I Women’s Volleyball All-ECAC Second Team, as well as the College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) Academic All-District Team.

Korrin, a junior outside hitter, who was also named to the Northeast Conference’s (NEC) All-NEC First Team this season, appeared in twenty-three matches. She registered 342 kills, 38 aces, 161 digs and twenty-nine total blocks.

Kamryn Chaney from Princeton University was named Offensive Player of the Year. Jordan Hardy of Bucknell University received Defensive Player of the Year honors. Sydney Jones from Temple won Rookie of the Year. Howard University’s Shaun Kupferberg was named Coach of the Year.

College Sports Communicators
The stringent requirements for student-athletes to receive CSC Academic All-District selection are: the student-athlete must be at least a sophomore both academically and athletically, the student athlete must have a grade point average above 3.50 and must have competed in ninety percent of contests or start in at least sixty-six percent of their team’s contests.
This is the second year Korrin, a Physical Therapy major, has been selected to the CSC Academic All-District Team.
In addition to the on-court stats listed above, Korrin carried a 3.8177 grade point average.
St. Francis head coach Sara Spielvogel said this about Korrin. “We are very proud of Korrin for her accomplishments this season on the court and in the classroom. She is a vital part to our offense and overall team success.

“Korrin is very dedicated and hardworking. She is in one of our toughest majors at SFU that requires a large chunk of her time and attention. All credit to Korrin for figuring out her time management style and balancing athletics and academics – She makes it look easy.”
Korrin shared “Balancing Division I volleyball at Saint Francis with the demands of studying physical therapy is a challenge that pushes me to grow both on and off the court.
“With the unwavering support of my professors and coaches, I’ve learned how to manage my time, stay focused, and excel in both academics and athletics.
“Their belief in me motivates me to give my best every day, knowing that success is possible with hard work, dedication, and the right support system.”
Korrin is joined on the CSC Academic All-District Team by teammates Maggie Hogan, Alexandra Sappia and Laney Wilson.
This is Maggie’s third season on the team. A senior outside hitter, majoring in Engineering, Maggie played in all twenty-seven matches for the Red Flash this past season, accumulating 99 kills, 27 assists, 43 aces, 194 digs and twenty-one total blocks in her senior season. This is Maggie’s third year on the CSC Academic All-District Team.
Alexandra, a redshirt sophomore setter, studying Physical Therapy, achieved 3.9289 GPA. She amassed 812 assists, 99 kills, 53 aces, 164 digs and 16 total blocks, as she appearing in all twenty-seven matches. Sappia was also named to the All-NEC Second Team.
Laney, sophomore outside/middle hitter, majoring in Nursing, carried a 3.968 GPA. She played in 26 matches this season, recording 133 kills, 22 digs and fifty-one total blocks.
