Girls Basketball: Clarion Downs Union
The Clarion Bobcats downed homestanding Union 51-30, in a KSAC Girls basketball matchup on Tuesday (December 17th).
The Bobcats came out big in the first period, outscoring Union 27-11. A 12-3 Bobcat edge in the second, saw the teams go in to halftime with Clarion leading 39-14.
The Cats led 49-21 after the third where they had a 10-7 advantage. Union outscored Clarion 9-2 in the fourth, setting the final.
Marley Kline led the Bobcats with 18 points, with eight of them coming in the first. Lacey Lauer also hit in double-figures, with 13 points including three 3-point baskets. Alivia Diehl finished with eight points. Sophie Babington scored 6 points on two treys.
Neyma Noukouni, Natalie Durish and Olivia Boddorf each had two points.
Maddy Dehart led Union with thirteen points. Kya Wetzel followed with eleven.
Bobcats coach Erin Fox shared, “Our game was an overall great team effort. The pieces of our game plan really started to come together last night so we are looking forward to the rest of the season.
“Marley Kline excelled last night as the leading scorer. Alivia Diehl and Natalie Durish both had big nights rebounding offensively and defensively. Sophie Babington and Lacey Lauer both stepped up running our offense and finding open shots and open players.”
The Bobcats are scheduled to host Punxsutawney on Thursday (December, 19th).
