Bobcats Split With Keystone On Hoops For Hope Doubleheader
The Clarion Area Bobcats split with the Keystone Panthers on Hoops for Hope Night (Friday, January 25th) at Clarion Area High School. The Bobcat boys downed Keystone 57-46, in the varsity finale, while the Clarion girls dropped a 44-33 decision to the Panthers, in the opening contest.
Boys: Clarion 57 – Keystone 46
The Bobcats held a 10-9 advantage after one period, and followed that with an 18-16 edge in the second, sending the game to halftime with Clarion leading 28-25.
Keystone had an 11-9 edge in the third, sending the teams to the final stanza, with Clarion leading 37-36, where a 20-10 Bobcat advantage set the final.
Wyatt Watterson led Clarion with 13 points.
Three other Bobcats also hit double figures, Derek and Dylan Smail with 12 apiece and Nathan Frederick with ten. Mason Burford had 7points and Parker Miller finished with seven.
Eli Nellis led the Panthers with 15points, with Dom Corcetti at fourteen.
The Clarion Boys are scheduled to host Punxsutawney on Monday (January 27th).
Girls: Keystone 44 – Clarion 23
Keystone led 17-to 5 after one and with a Panther 13-4 edge in the second, they took a 30-9 lead into the half. A 9-2 Keystone advantage in the third, had the teams heading to the fourth, with the Panthers on top 39-11. A 12-5 Clarion edge there set the final.
Sophie Babington led the Bobcats with fourteen points. Lacey Lauer had 5 points, Alivia Diehl scored 3 and Olivia Boddorff had one.
Ashley Albright had 15 points for the Panthers with Peyton McElravy scoring twelve.
The Bobcat Girls are scheduled to travel to Clarion-Limestone on Tuesday (January 28th).
