Bobcats Down Rocky Grove In Boys Non-Conference Basketball Action
The visiting Clarion Area Bobcats downed the Rocky Grove Orioles 73-61 in non-conference Boys basketball action, on Monday (February 10th).
Clarion held a 19-15 lead after one period. Rocky Grove outscored the Bobcats 22-18 in the second, and the teams went to halftime tied at thirty-seven.
A 14-9 Bobcat edge in the third, had Clarion up 51-46 heading to the final stanza. The Cats outscored the Orioles 73-61 in the fourth to set the final.
Nate Frederick led the Bobcats, with a game high twenty-six points. Nate used 6 three-point buckets for eighteen of those points. Two other Cats, Dylan Smail and Mason Burford also finished in double figures, with 18 and thirteen points respectively. Dylan scored 10 of his points in the fourth quarter, where he went 6-of-8 from the free-throw line.
Derek Smail finished with nine points. Quinn O’Neill had 4 points and Wyatt Watterson rounded out the Bobcat scoring with three. Wyatt had one bucket from beyond the arc.
Noah Baughman led the Orioles with twenty-five points.
Bobcats head coach Sam Heeter shared “I thought last night went very well. We had the opportunity to go on the road and play a really good team, and it’s nice to win those types of games late in the year.”
The Bobcats will host Moniteau, tonight (Tuesday, February 11th). With a win, the Cats will clinch the KSAC regular season championship and the top seed in the KSAC Tournament.
