Bobcats Fall In KSAC Boys Basketball Tournament Championship

The Clarion Area Bobcats dropped a 54-44 decision to the Redbank Valley Bulldogs, in the Keystone Shortway Athletic Conference championship game, on Saturday, February 15th, at PennWest Clarion’s Tippin Gymnasium.
The teams were tied at 7-all after one period. The Bulldogs outscored the Bobcats 19-10 in the second to take a 27-18 lead at halftime.
The Cats came back with a 14-10 advantage in the third, sending the teams to the final stanza, with Redbank up 37-32. A 17-12 Bulldog advantage in the fourth set the final.
Three Bobcats hit for double-figures. Dylan Smail had 14 points, Nate Frederick had 11 and Derek Smail had 10. Mason Burford chipped in 7 points, while Wyatt Watterson had two.
Breckin Minich led the Bulldogs with nineteen points. Braylon Wagner, Kieran Fricko and Rylan Rupp each had ten.
Both teams will begin District Nine Class-AA playoffs on Wednesday, February 26th.
