Girls Basketball: Bobcats Fall To Kane And Moniteau

The Clarion Area Girls fell to the homestanding Kane Wolves 56-28, in non-conference basketball action, on Friday (January 31st), then visited the Moniteau Warriors on Saturday (February 1st), where they dropped a 45-46 decision.

Clarion at Kane

Kane held leads of 11-8 after one, 29-10 at the half and 45-21 on their way to the win.

Lacey Lauer led the Clarion scoring with 11 points, which included three 3-point baskets. Sophie Babington followed with 9 points, including a trey.

Marley Kline, Kelsey Best, Lilly Shirey and Natalie Durish each had two points.

Addison Haight led Kane with twenty-eight points.

Clarion at Moniteau

This game was quite a bit closer for the Bobcats, as the score indicates.

Moniteau held a 13-5 lead after one period. Both teams scored 10 points in the second quarter and the Warriors led the Bobcats 22-15 at halftime. The third was very even again, with Moniteau just having a 10-9 edge over the Bobcats, sending the game to the final stanza with Moniteau up 32-24, where another one point, 13-12 Warrior edge set the final.

Sophie Babington led the Bobcats with 13 points, including two treys. Marley Kline followed with eight points.

Natalie Durish and Lacey Lauer each had six points. Lacey had a pair of three-point buckets. Lilly Shirey scored two points.

Sophie Fleeger had twenty-two points for the Warriors.

The Bobcats are scheduled to host Cranberry on Tuesday (February 4th).
