Wildcats Compete In District Nine Class-AA Duals

The Central Clarion Wildcats participated in the District Nine Class-AA Dual Championships at Brookville High School, on Saturday (February 1st). The Wildcats fell to the host Raiders 47-30, in the quarterfinal.

The Raiders opened with two forfeit wins at 107 and 114, and a Parker McKillop technical fall over Jackson Mravintz at 121 to lead 17-0 after three bouts.

The Wildcats got on the scoreboard at 127, with Wyatt Aaron pinning Nathan Kramer in 2:23. The score was now Brookville 17-Central Clarion 6.

Grayson Aaron picked up a forfeit win at 133 for Central Clarion, closing the gap to 17-12.

Logan Powell gave the Wildcats the lead at 18-17, pinning Weston McKinney. in the bout at 139.

The Raiders regained the lead, 23-18, with Cole Householder downing James Sprague by fall at 145. Anthony Ceriani defeated Ben Naser by pinfall at 152, increasing the Raiders’ lead to 29-18.

The Wildcats earned consecutive pins at 160 and 172. Mason Gourley downed Jamarcus Cooke at 160, closing the deficit to 29-24. Jake Henry’s win over Carter McKinney at 172, brought Central Clarion to within one 30-29.

But the Raiders closed out the meet with three straight wins by fall. Easton Belfiore downed Gavin Hannold at 189, Kolton Griffin defeated Dylan Albertine at 215 and Gavin Hannah stopped Hayden Hindman at 285 to set the final.

Port Allegany won the championship. They downed Clearfield 35-26 in the Championship Match. DuBois won the Class-AAA Championship.

Central Clarion coach Braun Gourley said, “It is always good to get another match. We have a few wrestlers moving to new weight classes for the post season so it was good to see them get to the weight they needed to be. We kept the dual close until the last matches but Brookville is very good from 189 up.”

The Wildcats are scheduled to host St. Marys on Thursday (February 6th).
