Baseball: Bobcats Down Lions
The Clarion Area downed the homestanding Clarion-Limestone Lions 16-2 in KSAC Baseball action on Wednesday (April 23rd).
Neither team scored in the first inning. The Bobcats scored 6 unanswered runs in the second, 1 run in the third and two in the fourth, to lead 9-0. The Lions scored their two runs in the bottom of the 5th, cutting Clarion’s lead to 9-2. The sixth inning was scoreless, then the Bobcats set the final plating seven runs in the seventh.
Hayden Weber went 4-for-4 for Clarion, scoring a run and driving in a run.
Dylan Smail went 3-for-5, with two RBIs and two runs scored. Derek Smail had a single and a home run. He crossed the plate twice and drove in three runs. Gabe Anderson singled twice, scored a pair of runs and drove three runners home. Wyatt Watterson had 1 hit, scored 2 runs and drove in three.
Noah Harrison singled, scored a run and had two RBIs. Carter Hindman had 1 hit, 1 run scored and 1 RBI. Ethan Rex and Kason Kiehl scored 2 runs and one run respectively.
Hindman was the winning pitcher, going the final 2 1/3 innings. He threw four strikeouts, gave up no hits, no runs and no walks. Rex started the game, also going 2 1/3 innings, striking out five, with Dylan Smail working the middle 2 1/3 while striking out two.
The Bobcats are scheduled to host Punxsutawney tomorrow (Friday, April 25th) with the starting pitch set for 4:30 p.m.
