Baseball: Bobcats Down Trojans

The Clarion Area Bobcats downed the homestanding Greenville Trojans 6-3, on Tuesday (May 13th), in non-conference baseball encounter.

The Cats scored five runs in the top of the firsts. Greenville scored one run in the fourth, cutting Clarion’s lead to 5-1. Two Bobcat runs in the sixth moved their lead to 6-3. A final Trojan run in the seventh, set the final.

Hayden Weber had 3 hits, 2 RBIs and a run scored. Derek Smail had 2 hits and scored twice.

Ethan Rex and Dylan Smail each singled and scored a run. Billy Kahle had a hit and an RBI. Parker Miller plated two runners and Wyatt Watterson drove in a run.

Derek Smail was the winning pitcher, going 5 2/3 innings in relief, giving up 3 runs on just 33 hits, striking out 7 and walking eight. Dylan Smail was the starter going 1 1/3 innings, allowing 2 hits and striking out two.

Jacob Csonka had three hits, including a double, scored a run and drove in a run for the Trojans.

The Bobcats are scheduled to host the Grove City Eagles today (Wednesday, May 14th) at Clarion County Park. First pitch is set for 4:15 p.m.
