Baseball: Bobcats Down Warriors In KSAC Matchup

The Clarion Area baseball team downed the visiting Moniteau Warriors 12-6 in a Keystone Shortway Athletic Conference matchup, on Friday (May 2nd) at Clarion County Park. The game began on Tuesday (April 29th), but was suspended early on due to weather.

Moniteau opened the scoring with two runs in the top of the first. The Bobcats answered with five in the bottom of the inning another in the second, giving Clarion a 6-2 lead after two. With two runs by the Warriors and three by the Bobcats in the third, Clarion led 9-4.

Clarion scored two in the fourth and another in the fifth to stretch their lead to 12-4. Moniteau scored a pair of runs in the sixth to set the final.

Derek Smail had a big day at the plate for the Bobcats, going 4-for-4 delivering four hits, including a pair of doubles, 2 runs batted in and three runs scored. He was also the winning pitcher, going five innings, with eight strikeouts, allowing four runs (one earned).

Noah Harrison had two doubles, with two RBIs and a run scored. Ethan Rex singled, scored two runs and drove in two runners.

Hayden Weber and Parker each singled, scored once and plated two runners. Gabe Anderson doubled and scored, Billy Kahle had a hit and scored a pair of runs and Dylan Smail scored a run.
