Jimmy Kerr had a great game, as the starting right tackle on the West Offensive Line, in the team’s 14-0 victory in the Pennsylvania Football Coaches Association (PSFCA) East/West Small School Game, which was held on Sunday, May 18th at Cumberland Valley’s Chapman Field, in Mechanicsburg.

There are two East/West Games, one for 1A-3A and another for 4A-6A. The East/West Games are the second most prestigious All-Star games in Pennsylvania, after the Big33 Classic, which currently pits Team Pennsylvania against Team Maryland. The three games are the only State-Wide All-Star Games. Both East/West Games were held on the 18th.

The 68th Big33 Game was held on Sunday, May 25th, at Chapman Field, with Maryland downing Pennsylvania 42-21. The win marked Maryland’s first victory since 2018, when the game was played at Central Dauphin’s Landis Field.

According to the PFSCA: The PSFCA East-West All-Star Game was created in 2001 to provide more athletes the chance to showcase their talents at a high level. It originally had one game including all classifications. The two school format began in 2021.Originally inspired by the Big 33 Game, which pits Pennsylvania’s top players against Maryland’s. The PSFCA East-West game offers a prestigious platform for athletes who might otherwise be overlooked due to the limited roster size of the Big 33 Game.

Jimmy did some great blocking from his, as did his O-Line mates.

One of Jimmy’s main duties was to seal off the edge to prevent the edge rusher from making a play in the backfield, which he was successful at time and again. He and the rest of the offensive line did a nice job in their run blocking.

Throughout the game Jimmy’s footwork was on display. Yes, this big guy can move his feet.

The West’s first touchdown came at the 2:59 mark of the first quarter when quarterback Carson Nagle from Bald Eagle Area capped an 11-play 80-yard drive with a 1-yard touchdown pass to Bishop Guilfoyle’s Hamilton Gates. Richland’s Noah Ritko was good on the extra point, giving the West a 7-0 lead.

The West scored the game’s final points at 9:40 as Nagle hit Tyrone’s Trent Adams on a touchdown from 44 yards out, to finish a 5-play 68-yard drive, with Ritko connected on the PAT.

For Jimmy this was more than a game, though.

“It was an honor to be part of the East-West All-Star Game.

“The whole experience was incredible — from competing alongside top talent to learning from great coaches.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity. It pushed me to grow as both a player and a person.

“I appreciate everyone who helped make it happen and look forward to what’s next.”

Wildcats head coach, Dave Eggleton shared about how impressed he was with Jimmy’s fine showing in the game.

“I thought Jimmy represented our district and team very well in the game.

“He really controlled the line of scrimmage watching the film. I was impressed with how well he handled the defensive end on all the past blocking and opened some nice holes in the run game.”

“He really showed he deserved to play with some of the best players in the state and showed that he will continue to be a dominant player at the next level.”

Also participating in the game from the District 9 Football League were Brockway linebacker Johnny Varischetti and Brockway head coach Jake Heindl, who was an assistant coach for the game.
