Clarion Area’s Dylan Smail – Rookie Of The Year, Rob Jewett Coach Of The Year In 2025 YDL -Varischetti Holdings District 9 Baseball Awards; Derek Smail, Hayden Weber, Billy Kahle Also Named To The Squad For Bobcats

The YDL Sports Network announced their 2025 YDL – Varischetti Holdings District 9 Baseball Awards on Wednesday, June 17th.

Varischetti Holdings, LP, of Brockway, is a family-owned organization that includes a real estate investment firm, a powder metal manufacturing business, and a gas field services company. Companies within the organization include Allegheny Electric Services, Phoenix Sintered Metals, Superior Energy Resources, and Varischetti & Son, Inc.

The Clarion Area Bobcats had two Major Award Winners. Dylan Smail was named Rookie of the Year after recording 16 pitching appearances in relief, going 3-0 with 2 Saves, 38 ⅓ IP, 2.37 ERA, 22 BB, 37 K, 20 R, 13 ER, 1.67 WHIP and hitting .303 with .893 OPS, 4 2B, 1 HR, 9 RBIs, 26 R.

Coach Rob Jewett was named Coach of the Year for the second time in three seasons after he guided the Bobcats to a 16-7 record, the KSAC title, a second-place finish in District 9 Class 1A, and a PIAA semifinal berth.

Other Top Award Winners were Redbank Valley’s Braylon Wagner – MVP and DuBois Central Catholic’s Aiden Snowberger – Pitcher of the Year

Derek Smail was named to the First Team for the Bobcats, as a utility player after batting for a .464 avg., 1.375 OPS, 6 doubles, 6 home runs, 29 runs batted in and 26 runs scored, and pitching 10 games and playing 7 at first base, 4 in center field, and 1 in right field while also playing parts of five additional games at first base, 3 in right field, 2 in left field and one in center field.

Hayden Weber was named to the Second Team at catcher, throwing out 21.1% of runners stealing against while picking off 2 runners. At the plate he had a .338 avg, .775 OPS, 2 doubles, 14 runs scored and 15 RBIs.

Billy Kahle was name to the second team as a designated hitter. He hit .364 with an .822 OPS, 2 doubles, 15 RBIs and fourteen runs scored.
