Central Clarion Wildcats North Clarion at C-L on Wednesday (September 10th). Head coach Nicole Oakes shares this article:
The North Clarion Wolves and Central Clarion Wildcats went head-to-head this week in a meet that came down to the wire. With temperatures warmer than the stretch of cool weather the area had been enjoying and dry conditions underfoot, both teams rose to the challenge.
Central Clarion’s Hayden Weber set the tone early by surging to the front of the boys’ race. The Wildcats capitalized on pack strength, ultimately securing places 1, 4, 6, 7, and 8. That effort gave Central Clarion a narrow 26–33 victory over North Clarion in what proved to be
a hard-fought matchup.
On the girls’ side, North Clarion brought just two runners, leaving them unable to score as a team. Central Clarion’s deep roster swept the first five positions.
The meet showcased the determination and competitiveness of both squads, setting the stage for an exciting season ahead. The junior high races brought just as much excitement as the varsity division. In the boys’ race, Central Clarion and North Clarion agreed to score only their top three runners to match squad sizes.
The Wildcats edged out the Wolves in a tight 9–12 decision, with strong finishes from their front pack sealing the win.
The Central Clarion junior high girls also claimed victory, pulling away from North Clarion for a 24–36 team score. Leading the charge was 8th grader Bryn Anderson, who crossed the line first to set the pace for her team.
With both junior high squads showing depth and determination, the future looks bright for the Wildcats and Wolves alike.
