Injuries and a tough schedule continue to plague the Central Clarion Wildcat boys’ soccer team. This week saw them drop a consecutive pair of matches against Elk County Catholic and Redbank Valley.
The Wildcats hosted Elk County Catholic on Monday but fell short, losing 0-4 in a lopsided game.
They improved in New Bethlehem on Tuesday against Redbank Valley however two penalty kick goals and an errant own-goal made the difference for the Bulldogs on their senior night.
Martin Ormeno opened the scoring for Central Clarion just three minutes into the game from a Brendan Bettwy crossing pass.
Redbank Valley countered five minutes later though to tie the game at 1-1.

Bettwy gave the Wildcats the lead again from a Dany Schweitzer pass with twenty five minutes left in the first half, but Redbank rallied a second time to tie it with twelve minutes to go.
Redbank took the lead for good with a penalty kick and then a Wildcat own-goal, closing the first half at a score of 4-2.
The second half began the same way as the first with Ormeno scoring for the Wildcats on another Schweitzer pass. Both teams pressed on offense as the Wildcats tried to tie, however Redbank was awarded a second penalty kick to put the game out of reach for Central Clarion.
The Bulldogs added one more goal for good measure, taking the game with a 6-3 victory.
