Korrin Burns Named ECAC Offensive Player Of The Year For Saint Francis Women’s Volleyball As ECAC Announces 2025 Division I Women’s Volleyball All-ECAC and Major Awards, Joined By Teammate Alexandra Sappia On First Team

Just when you thought senior standout, Korrin Burns had gathered all the accolades for her Saint Francis University Red Flash Women’s Volleyball career, another prestigious award has come her way.

On Friday, December 12th, the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) announced its 2025 Division I Women’s Volleyball All-ECAC Teams and major awards and Korrin was named the Offensive Player of the Year. She is the first player in Red Flash Women’s Volleyball history to earn the award.

This honor comes directly on the heels of Korrin’s recent Honorable Mention on the 2025 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Women’s Division I All-East Coast Region Team.

In addition, Korrin, who was a three-time Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association (PVCA) Class-A All-State selection for the Clarion Area Bobcats, was named to the ECAC First Team at Outside Hitter. She was also named to the ECAC Second Team in 2024, when she was the first SFU Women’s Volleyball player named All-ECAC.

Korrin was named 2025 Northeast Conference (NEC) Player of the Year and made All-NEC First Team for three years in a row. and She was named to the NEC All-Tournament Team this season.

On the season, Korrin set the single-season program for kills with 588 and broke the Saint Francis career mark with 1,453 kills. She finished her career with seven of the top eight single-game kill performances in program history, including of this season, which included an NEC Tournament record 28 kills against Fairleigh Dickinson University in the NEC Semifinals on November 21st.

Korrin is the only Saint Francis Women’s Volleyball player record 30 kills, a feat she accomplished twice in her career. She recorded 30 kills in the Red Flash’s five set match with Sienna on September 5th. The first time she passed the milestone was in a four set win against Fairleigh Dickinson in 2023, where she set the program record, 34 kills.

She is second in career hitting percentage (.216), fifth in total attacks (3,582), and eighth in service aces (104) for the Red Flash. She was named NEC Player of the Week eight times in 2025 and 12 times in her career and ranks among the NCAA Division I best in kills, kills per set, points, and points per set.

During Korrin’s career, Saint Francis compiled a 61-49 overall record and a 44-14 mark in NEC Conference play. The team made it to the NEC Tournament all four years.

Korrin was joined on the First Team by her Red Flash teammate, redshirt junior, Alexandra Sappia, who was named as the Setter. Alexandra and Korrin are also the first in Saint Francis University Women’s Volleyball history to be named All-ECAC in the same year, let a lone First Team in the same season.

During her standout season, Alexandra recorded an amazing 1,238 assists, 210 digs, 36 blocks, 63 aces and 113 points.

She posted a career high 59 assists in the Red Flash’s five set win over Fairleigh Dickinson in the NEC semifinal match.

Her career totals to date include, 2,688 assists, 551 digs, 59 blocks, 154 aces and 253 points.

Alexandra was named First Team All-Northeast Conference.

Coach Sara Spielvogel, whose Red Flash finished the season with 20 wins overall and 14 in NEC play (both program records) shared this, “With the end of volleyball season approaching, Korrin and Alex’s performance continue to get recognition.

“We are so proud of them and very excited that the rest of  the volleyball community took notice too.  

“Hard work and dedication should never go unnoticed and this is another great example and accomplishment for them!”
