Baseball: Bobcats Fall To Eagles
The Clarion Area Bobcats fell to the homestanding Grove City Eagles in non-conference baseball 9-8 on Wednesday (May 13th).
Neither team scored in the first inning. Grove City held Clarion off the board in the top of the second and then scored twice in their half of the inning.
The Bobcats plated six runs in the top of the third, to take a 6-2 lead. The Eagles answered with three runs in the bottom of the frame, to move within one.
Clarion didn’t score in the fourth, with Grove City putting up a two-spot, giving the Eagles a 7-6 lead. After a 1-0 Grove City scoring edge in the fifth for an 8-6 advantage. The Bobcats scored an unanswered run in the sixth to move back within one.
Both teams scored in the seventh setting the 9-8 final.
Matt Watterson had a pair of doubles for the Bobcats, while scoring twice and driving in a run. Carter Hindman registered 2 hits, including a double, 2 RBIs and a run scored.
Hayden Weber, Dylan Smail and Ethan Rex each posted 1 hit, 1 run scored and an RBI.
Billy Kahle had a single and Evan Kriebel scored a run.
The Bobcats are scheduled to host the Elk County Catholic Crusaders, this afternoon (Thursday, May 14th) at Clarion County Park. Game time is set for 3:30.
