Bobcat Boys Golf Team Claims 2020 KSAC Title, Second Straight Championship (Posted 09/26/20)

The Clarion Area Boys Golf Team claimed the 2020 Keystone Shortway Athletic Conference Championship in the season’s final Mega Match at Aubrey’s Dubbs Dred Golf Course at Butler, on Thursday, September 24th. This is the Cats’ second straight Conference title.

The Bobcats shot a 234 in the match to finish second to Moniteau, which had a 227 Rounding out the Top Five, on the day were: Clarion-Limestone (237), Forest Area (241) and Venango Catholic (255).

It was a tight race for the season crown between Clarion and C-L, with the Cats shooting 1872 to finish 18 strokes ahead of Clarion-Limestone, who recorded 1890. The rest of the Top Five teams for the campaign were Moniteau at 1956, followed by Venango Catholic with 2089 and Forest Area at 2112.

Devon Lauer (in an earlier match) finished sixth for the season.

Clarion was led by Devon Lauer who carded a 43 to tie Moniteau’s Dawson Wallace for fifth place. Clarion-Limestone’s Hayden Siegel and Moniteau’s Jacob Felsing both shot 39, to tie for medalist honors. Clarion-Limestone’s Hayden Callen was third with a 41 and Venango Catholic’s Collin Liederbach finished fourth with a 42.

McKayla Kerle (in an earlier match) finshed eighth in the season standings.

The Bobcats had two other golfers finish in the Top Ten. Jackson Fox shot a 44 to tie Forest Area’s Zeelan Hargenrader for seventh, while Mckayla Kerle’s 45 put her in a ninth-place tie with Moniteau’s Jason Rugg.

Other Bobcats competing in the match were Owen Kriebel (49), Ryan Alston (53) and Avery Kline (53).

Clarion had three golfers finish in the season’s Top Ten. Fox was third with a 374, Lauer was sixth at 401 and Kerle was eighth, with a 408 total.

Seigel was the season’s medalist with a 327. Others in the Top Five were: Felsing, second at 360; Callen, fourth with a 377; and Liederbach fifth at 397.
