Dawson Smail Named To D9and10sports.com 2022 All-District 9 Baseball First Team

D9and10Sports.com announced their 2022 All-District 9 Baseball Team on Tuesday, June 21st, with Clarion Area’s Dawson Smail being named to the First Team.

Just a sophomore, Dawson was selected as Co-Shortstop. He had a .508 batting average, with 12 doubles and a triple. He scored 31 runs, drove in 25 and had an OPS (on base plus slugging) of 1.448.

A number of other Keystone Shortway Athletic Conference (KSAC) players joined Dawson on the All-District 9 Baseball Team. From the immediate area: Redbank Valley’s Bryson Bain made the First Team as a Utility Player. On the Second Team: Clarion-Limestone’s Bryson Huwar was named as a Starting Pitcher and Logan Lutz as a Relief Pitcher; A-C Valley/Union’s Trey Fleming was named at Third Base and Redbank Valley’s Tate Minich was named as a Co-Catcher.

Others from the KSAC who were selected include First Teamers: Mallick Metcalf, a Utility Player from Karns City and Starting Pitcher Branson Carson from Moniteau; and Second Teamers: Second Baseman Ken Lavrich from Cranberry; and Designated Hitter Jakub Obman from Moniteau.

PIAA State Class-A Champion DuBois Central Catholic gathered all the Major Awards, with Carter Hickman being named Player of the Year, Brandin Anderson selected as Pitcher of the Year, Brayden Fox named Rookie of the Year and Adam Fox garnering Coach of the Year.

D9and10Sports.com also named their 2022 All-District 9 Softball Team, on Thursday, June 23rd, with a number of KSAC players named.

From the immediate area, Keystone’s Natalie Bowser was named to the First Team as a Utility Player.

Others from the KSAC include: First Team: Forest Area’s Madison McFarland, at Short Stop and Moniteau’s Emily Covert, as a Utility Player. Making the Second Team were: Cranberry’s Keelie Schneider, at Third Base; Forest Area’s Emily Aites, at First Base; and three players from Karns City, Ashley Fox, Co-Shortstop, Rossi McMillen, in the Outfield and Pitcher Marra Patton.

PIAA State Class-AAAA Champion Clearfield garnered three of the Major Awards, with Emma Hipps being named Player of the Year and Pitcher of the Year, and Derek Danver being selected as Manager of the Year. Johnsonburg’s Natalie Dunworth was named Rookie of the Year.
