Baseball: Bobcats Down Rovers

The Clarion Bobcats downed the homestanding Brockway Rovers 6-2 on Thursday (April 16th).
The Bobcats scored a pair of runs in the top of the first, with the Rovers answering with one in the bottom of the inning. Clarion scored 2 runs in the second and 1 in the third, while holding Brockway off the board in each to stretch their lead to 5-1.

Both teams scored a run in the fourth setting the 6-2 final, with neither team scoring in the last three frames.
Hayden Weber went 3-for-3 for the Bobcats, scoring 3 runs and driving in a runner. Parker Miller had a pair of hits and scored once.
Wyatt Watterson had a hit, scored a run and had three RBIs. Dylan Smail singled twice drove in 1 run and scored a run.
Gabe Anderson singled and drove in a run, with Ethan Rex and Carter Hindman each providing a hit.
The Bobcats outhit the Rovers 6 to 2.

Three pitchers combined for the two-hitter. Hindman picked up the win, going 3 innings, with 2 strikeouts and allowing a run. Ethan Rex went 3 innings with 5 strikeouts and 1 run allowed, and Watterson went one inning allowing no runs.
Clarion Area Coach Rob Jewett had this to say about contest, “We played a pretty good all around game against a good Brockway team.
“Our pitchers settled in and threw strikes. I thought we played really good defense.
“We hit the ball pretty well, but Brockway made some really nice catches in the outfield.
“Still making some mistakes that we need to clean up, but we played a good complete game.”
