Baseball: Bobcats Down Cardinals In Key District Matchup

The Clarion Area Bobcats downed the visiting DuBois Central Catholic Cardinals, 7-2 in a key District Nine 1A contest on Monday (April 27th) at Clarion County Park.

Neither team scored in the first two innings, but DCC scored three runs in the top of the third, with Clarion answering with a run in the bottom.

The Bobcats scored four runs in the fourth and another in the fifth for a 6-3 lead.

The Cardinals plated two runs in the sixth, closing the gap to 6-5. The Cats answered with a run in the bottom of the inning and held DCC scoreless in the sixth to set the final.

Dylan Smail doubled and hit a solo homer for the Bobcats, finished with a pair of RBIs. Ethan Rex doubled and plated two runners. Gabe Anderson had 2 hits, scored a run and drove in a run.

Carter Hindman had a pair of singles and scored once. Hayden Weber singled, scored 1 run and drove in pair. Parker Miller and Billy Kahle each singled and scored a run. Wyatt Watterson had a single.

The Bobcats outhit the Cardinals 11-8.

Smail started the game and picked up the win, while registering six strikeouts, with Carter Hindman striking out two in relief.

The Bobcats are scheduled to visit Karns City tomorrow (Wednesday, April 28th).
