Wildcats Do Well At KSAC Track And Field Championships

The Central Clarion Wildcats had some fine performances at the Keystone Shortway Athletic Conference Championships, at Redbank Valley on Tuesday, May 5th.

The Wildcat Boys finished in second place, with the standings looking like this: 1) Brookville Area ( 187.5), 2) Central Clarion (91), 3) Karns City (82), 4) Cranberry (62), 5) Union/Allegheny-Clarion Valley (52), 6) Redbank Valley (33), 7) North Clarion (23), 8) Keystone (19.5), 9) Moniteau (8).

The Central Clarion Girls finished in fourth place with the results as follows: 1) Cranberry (87), 2) Brookville (86), 3) Karns City (70), 4) Central Clarion (68), 5) Keystone (66), 6) Redbank Valley (58), 7) Moniteau (57), 8) Union/Allegheny-Clarion Vallley (42), 9) North Clarion (23).

The top two placewinners in each event.

WILDCAT BOYS INDIVIDUAL RESULTS

Three Wildcats reached the platform.

Brody Beggs had a pair of second place performances, the 100 (11:00) and the 200 (22.53).

Jackson Baker finished second in the 1600 (4:33.75) and also took seventh in the 3200 (10:41.46). Nathan Frederick placed second in the long jump (20-11.25).

Caleb Hunter was third in the 100 (11.52) and fourth in the 200 (23.76). Brady Guth finished third in the 800 (2:01.49). Ryan Rinker placed fourth in the 300 hurdles (43.00). Daniel Schweitzer was fourth in the triple jump (38-5.25).

Jackson Mranvantz finished fifth in the 400 (53.22) and had a pair of eighth place finishes, 100 (11.52) and 200 (23.76).

Jonas Wilshire was fifth in the 800 (2:01.85), with Ryan Miles capturing fifth in the triple jump (37-10.25). Joshua Turner was sixth in the 3200 (10:41.35). Chris Kim finished seventh in the 1600 (4:51.98) and Kayden Fiscus took seventh in the discus (130-9).

Charlie Hepfl finished eighth in the javelin (140-9) and thirteenth in the discus (110-6), with Brendan Bettwy registering a ninth place finish in the 800 (2:09.43).

Kolen Kemmer was eleventh in the javelin (135-0) and Blake Weckerly took fifteenth in the same event (122-0).

WILDCAT BOYS RELAYS

The Wildcats had a big day in the relays capturing two firsts and a second.

The 4×400 consisting of Hunter, Guth, Frederick and Beggs crossed broke the tape in 3:27.62 for first place.

The 4×800 which included, Baker, Kim, Guth and Wilshire finished first with a time of 8:23.18.

Manned by Mranvantz, Hunter, Beggs and Frederick the 4×100 finished second in 43.72.

WILDCAT GIRLS INDIVIDUAL RESULTS

Adi Jackson finished second in the 800 (2:26.06).

Julianna Schwabenbauer also reached the platform with a second place finish in the high jump (4-10) She also finished sixth in the 800 (2:37.21), with Isabella Anthony finishing second in the shot put (32-9.5) and fourth in the discus (92-11).

Hannah Love finished third in the 1600 (5:42.95) and fourth in the 3200 (12:33.51), while Liv McGinley took third in the 400 (1:03.98) and seventh in the 200 (28.71).

Lillian Shirey was fourth in the triple jump (31-5.25) and Emma Fitzsimmons finished fifth in the 300 hurdles (50.37).

Emily O’Toole finished fifth in the triple jump (31-2) and eigth in the long jump (14-9). Corrine Hepfl took sixth in the long jump (15-2.5) and tenth in the javelin (90-2).

Dana Coulson captured seventh in the 3200 (14:12.99) and tenth in the 1600 (6:19-90). Marley Kline placed seventh in the long jump (4-6) and Reise Jackson was seventh in the 1600 (6:19.90). Madison Schill was ninth in the 200 (29.65) and twelfth in the 100 (14.45). Laney Wright had a tenth in the discus (78-6) and fifteenth in the shot put (23-11.5).

Braelyn DeFranco finished eleventh in the 400 (1:13.77) and Kara Wilson finished twelfth in the same event (1:19.34).

WILDCAT GIRLS RELAYS

Central Clarion came away with two second place finishes.

The 4×400 run by Adi Jackson, McGinley, Schill and Hepfl finished in 4:28.67.

The 4×800 crossed the finish line in 10:30.84. Participating on that team were Love, Reise Jackson, Adi Jackson and Schwabenbauer.

Coach Chandra Scheftic was very happy with the Wildcats’ performance, “Both our girls and boys teams really showed up last night – consistently putting together strong times, distances and heights – many PR’s across the board.

“We’re incredibly proud of the way our athletes are competing and growing as a team this season, we’re excited about the trajectory they’re building towards districts and states.

“We’re thankful for the time and energy put into the invite by the KSAC committee and Redbank Valley school and staff.”
