Lady Cats Advanced To 3rd Consecutive District Nine Class-A Title Game, With Win Over Port Allegany (02/27/24)

In a rematch of last year’s District Nine Class-A Final, the Clarion Girls Basketball Team downed Port Allegany 54-46, in a Semi-Final, at Kane High School, on Wednesday. With the loss the top seeded Lady Gators fall from the unbeaten ranks.

The win advances the Defending Champion Lady Cats into their third consecutive Title Game, where they will face off against next door neighbor Keystone, at 5:30PM, on Saturday, at Tippin Gymnasium. The Lady Panthers advanced by defeating Venango Catholic 51-50, in overtime.

Maci Thornton paced Clarion, as she led all scorers, with 24 points.

The Lady Cats and Lady Gators were knotted at 15 points, after the first period. Clarion led by two, at the half, 24-22 and held a three point lead, 35-32, at the three-quarter mark after posting an 11-10 advantage, in the third. A 6-3, Bobcat advantage, in the last stanza, set the 54-46 final.

Joining Thornton in double figures was Nicki Glenn, who scored 12 points, with all of her points coming on three-point buckets. Kyla Miles had 8 points. Laken Ganoe had 6 tallies and Grace Kroh chipped in with four.

Port Allegany was led by Becca Lathrop with 17 points and Brooke Roys with fourteen.

The Lady Cats record currently stands at 19-6 and 62-15 over the last three seasons.

3:30 PM AA Girls Final  Clarion-Limestone – Karns City
5:30 PM A Girls Final  Clarion – Keystone
7:30 PM A Boys Final  Ridgway – Elk County Catholic
Tickets are $5.00 for adults and $2.00 for students.
