Bobcat Elementary Wrestlers Compete At Franklin And Burrell Tournaments (03/01/14)
(By Coach Lee Weber and Coach Dave Smail)
In the Franklin Open Tournament (Saturday, February 22), we had 5 boys attend. This is usually a very competitive tournament. Chase Makray finished 3rd, while Jake Smith, Ben Smith, and Logan Powell all wrestled with heart and finished with a respectable 5th. Brendan Makray and Bryce Klawuhn, both coming back to the sport, wrestled with no fear.
In the Burrell “Super Trophy” Open (Saturday, February 22), Owen Reinsel continues to compete with some of the best wrestlers in western PA and he finished with a strong 3rd place.
In the Burrell “Super Trophy” Novice (Sunday, February 23), Brady Pierce, wrestling in his 1st season, finished 1-2 against very tough competition.
Dawson Smail went 2-2 and had the quickest pin of the tournament, in 9 seconds and younger (but bigger!) brother Derek Smail, finished 2nd place to earn a super trophy.
