Rotary opened the season with a 12-0 victory over Burns
and Burns Wednesday night.

Rotary starter Curvin Goheen struck out the first 2
batters before Lake Staub doubled. Goheen then struck out
the next batter to end the threat.

Rotary then wasted little time cracking the scoreboard.
Calvin German reached first on an error, Goheen then
hammered a 1 strike pitch over the center field fence to
give Rotary a 2-0 lead. Burns starter Hayden Callen
settled down, after Goheen’s blast and struck out the side
to end the frame.

Goheen continued his dominating outing on the mound, when
he struck out the side in the top of the 2nd on only 12
pitches.

Callen matched Goheen when he struck out the next 3
batters, in the home half of the 2nd.

Goheen then struck out the first 2 batters, before Ethan
Burford singled and advanced to 3rd on an error.
Burns was unable to bring Burford in however, as Goheen                                                                                                                                                    induced a ground ball back to the mound to end the threat.

Rotary blew the game wide open in the bottom of the 3rd.
After 1 out, Goheen singled. Greg Kalinowski and Hunter
Craddock drew back to back walks, loading the bases for
Travis Devey who singled in Goheen. Cam LaPinto then hit a
ringing double off of the fence, scoring 2 more runs.
Hayden Siegel and Braden Rankin followed that with back to
back RBI singles. Matt Terwilliger and German then
followed with back to back walks before Goheen cleared the
bases with a 3 RBI triple. Goheen later scored Rotary’s
12th and final run on a steal of home before Burns
reliever Tyler Schmader recorded an inning ending
strikeout.

Goheen then induced a popout and a strikeout before giving
way to Devey on the mound. Following a Jordan Pezzutti
double, Devey recorded a strikeout to end the game via the
mercy rule.

Callen ended his day on the mound, striking out 6 in 2 1/3
innings.

Goheen went 3 2/3, allowing 0 runs on 2 hits, striking out 9
while walking 1.
