Bobcats And Lady Cats Have Good Showing At Redbank Valley Invitational (05/10/14)

The Clarion Area Boys and Girls Track and Field Teams participated in the Redbank Valley Invitational, on Thursday.

Led by Ian Corbett and Liam Raehsler, who won gold, the Bobcats and Lady Cats garnered two first place finishes, three seconds and four thirds. They had sixteen top five finishes and twenty-three top ten finishes.

Corbett finished first in the 100, in a meet record time of 10.6 finishing 1/10th of a second ahead of Karns City’s Logan Maroney. The two ended up in a second place tie, in the 200 (22.2). Raehsler’s first place finish was in the 3200 (10:18.0).

Laken Ganoe had a fine day for the Lady Cats, with three top five finishes. Ganoe took second in the triple jump (33-11), third in the high jump (4-10) and fourth in the long jump (14-05). Teammate Madison Weaver took second in the long jump (15-06).

Antonio Troese, Zach Hill and Jenn Ochs also had third place finishes, for Clarion. Troese’s third came in the Boys 800 (2:06.3), Hill’s was in the high jump (5-09) and Ochs’ came in the Girls javelin (114-02). Ochs also finished seventh in the shot put (29-05.5).

Julie Kenneson had a fourth in the Girls high jump (4-10). Forest Mills had a fourth in the 800 (2:40.5), with Janelle Toy finishing fifth in the same event (2:41.2). Mills had a fifth in the 1600 (6:03.0).

Adam Bettwy had a fifth in the Boys 3200 (11:31.1) and a sixth in the 1600 (5:16.6). Katie Eustice finished fifth in the Girls high jump (4-08) and eighth in the 100 hurdles (18.9).

Cody Hearst finished seventh in the Boys 100 (11.5) and Damien Cherico was eighth in the 800 (2:16.8).

Rounding out the Lady Cats top ten finishers were Hannah Frakes, in the 3200 (14:29.5) and the 4×100 relay team, consisting of Ganoe, Grace Kroh, Weaver and Kelly Beveridge (54.4).

Thirteen schools competed in the event. In addition to the Bobcats and host Redbank Valley, A-C Valley, Brookville, Clarion-Limestone, Cranberry, Dubois Central Catholic, Karns City, Keystone, Kiski Area, Moniteau, North-Clarion and Union also took part in the event.
