Bobcats Down A-C Valley, Fall To Cranberry (05/07/14)

The Bobcat Baseball Team is 1-1 so far this week, defeating A-C Valley 11-0, in 5 innings at Parker, on Monday and falling to Cranberry 7-3, at the Clarion University Field, on Tuesday.

A-C Valley Game
Adrian Weber and Brendan Miller combined to hold the Falcons scoreless, while giving up only two hits. Weber, the starting pitcher, went 3 innings, striking out 5 batters and giving up no hits in picking up the victory. Miller had two innings in relief. He threw one strikeout and gave up two hits.

The Bobcats scored 1 run in the first, 2 in the second and another, in the third before putting seven runs across the plate in the fourth inning.

Clarion had 14 hits in the game. Caleb Wilson went 3 for 3, with an RBI and a run scored. Matt Verne had 2 hits, including a double, with 2 RBIs and a run scored. Tanner Corbett had two hits and scored a run.

Weber had a single and drove in 2 runs. Taylor Smith had a hit and scored 2 runs, as did John Katis. Max Lane had a single, 2 RBIs and a run scored and Miller had hit and scored a run. Derek Lauer had a hit, scored a run and drove in a run. Luke Nellis had a single and Micheal Bartley had an RBI.

The Bobcats had five stolen bases, with Katis stealing two and Weber, Wilson and Smith each stealing one.

Cranberry Game
This game was scoreless until the Berries put 5 runs across, in the top of the fifth. Cranberry scored two more in the top of the sixth. The Bobcats had a run in the sixth and two more in the seventh to set the 7-3 final.

Lauer had the Bobcats’ only hit, in the contest.vWilson, Ethan Straffin and Corbett each scored runs and Verne and Miller both had RBIs. Corbett stole two bases and Wilson stole one.

Lane, Verne and Miller worked the mound for the Bobcats.

Clarion is now 7-2 on the season, with both losses coming at the hands of the Berries. The Bobcats will host Clarion-Limestone tomorrow.
