Great Show Of Sportsmanship As Clarion Builders and Ace Tie In Clarion Minor League Action (05/27/14)

(By Clarion Builders Coach, Nathan Girvan)

May 23 was an exciting night in Clarion Minor League action. Clarion Builders and Ace battled to a 3-3 tie. Fans were treated to good defensive plays on both sides and good hitting by all players.

The game came down to a dramatic finish. Clarion Builders tied the game with runners on 2nd and 3rd and two outs. Brenden was on third when there was an infield hit. He broke for the plate as the pitcher from Ace got the ball. As the pitcher headed for home plate, he collided with Brenden coming home from third. The ball was jarred out and Brenden went to touch home with his hand, at the same time as the pitcher tagged him with the ball.

The crowd and both benches were going wild over the play. As a result of the play, Ace Coach, Mike Ferguson and I decided to call it an out and end the game with a tie! We both felt the kids deserved to tie for such a hard fought game. Both Brenden and the pitcher were checked out and were OK.

The crowd erupted into a standing ovation for both teams as the kids lined up for the good sportsmanship handshakes.

Great game by both Clarion Builders and Ace!

Clarion Builders was led by Brayden Murry with 3 hits. Right behind him was Brenden, Dauntae with 2 hits each. Colby Wright, Jimmy Kerr, Jacob Hull and John Burke all had a hit also.

Ace was led by Jack with 3 hits. Jase and Kaden came in with 2 hits. Logan, Layten, Joelle, Seth and Sebastian all had a hit.
