Ian Corbett Medals In PIAA State 100 Meters (05/25/14)

Clarion Bobcat sprinter Ian Corbett completed his 2014 track season by earning a medal in Boys Class-AA 100 Meter Dash, at the PIAA State Track and Field Championships at Shippensburg University’s Seth Grove Stadium, on Saturday.

Corbett ran an 11.03 to finish in fifth place. The winner was Jahvel Hemphill, of Bloomsburg, who ran a 10.80. Hemphill was joined by Jhaloni Johnson of Springfield (2nd – 10.86), Louis Berry of Shady Side Academy (3rd – 10.91), Osiris Nicholson of Church Farm (4th – 11.01), Corbett (5th), Jared Hogue of Freedom Area (6th -11.09), Brandon Kuntz of Trinity (7th – 11.09) and Anthony Maurent of GAR Memorial (8th – 11.09) on the podium.

Also competing for Clarion Area, on Saturday. were Liam Raehsler, who ran a 10:04.96 in the Boys AA 3200 and Jenn Ochs, who threw 107-09 in the Girls AA Javelin.

The Boys 1X400 Relay Team, consisting of Antonio Troese, Zach Hill, Matt Wagner and Josh Kreibel,  ran a 49.19, in the Pre-lims, on Friday. Corbett also competed in the 200 Meter Dash Pre-lims, on Friday.

****Special Note – Mitch Obenrader (North Clarion graduate and 2013 second place winner in PIAA Boys AA Javelin), a freshman member of the Penn State Behrend track team, won the NCAA D-III Javelin Title on Saturday, with a throw of 67.01 meters (219-10). He is Behrend’s first ever national champion.
