Seven Bobcats/Lady Cats Named To T-CS/CE All-Stars (06/24/14)

The Tri-County Sunday/Courier Express Baseball and Softball All-Stars were announced in this week’s Tri-County Sunday and seven Clarion Area players were selected to the teams.

Tanner Corbett and Matt Verne were named to the Second Team, on the baseball squad. Corbett was named as an outfielder while Verne was selected as a utility player. Corbett had a .420 batting average and drove in 17 runs. Verne hit .333 and had 3 homers and 23 RBIs.

Receiving Honorable Mention on the baseball team were John Katis, Max Lane and Brendan Miller.

Two Lady Cats, Keanna Over and Johnna Rapp, were named Honorable Mention on the baseball team.

Dubois High School had a major haul on the top awards. The Beavers had both Coaches of the Year, Todd Stiner for baseball and Rick McClelland for softball. Dubois had one of the baseball Co-Players of the Year, Devon Walker and both the Co-Players of the Year, in softball, twins Sierra and Cheyanne Mckee. This is the second straight year the Lady Beaver juniors have won the top softball award.

Also named Co-Player of the Year was Elk County Catholic’s Brandon Schlimm.

Second Team-Infielder, Megan Kelley – Clarion-Limestone

Second Team-Designated Player, Kara Hicks, Redbank Valley

Honorable Mention: Tabitha Switzer, Brianna Speer, Emily Hawthorn, Alyssa Kiser – Clarion-Limestone; Kimberly Shick, Tessa Troup – Redbank Valley; Elaina Powell – Brookville.

Baseball:

Honorable Mention: Brooks Bennet – Clarion-Limestone; Devin Shumaker – Redbank Valley.
