Junior Varsity Football Team Downs Redbank Valley (09/17/14)

The Clarion Junior Varsity Gridders traveled to Redbank Valley on Monday (September 15) and came away with a 58-0 victory. Josh Kreibel scored three touchdowns and Caleb Bailey scored twice. In all five Bobcats scored touchdowns.

The Bobcats scored once in the first quarter as Bailey ran the ball to the left side and into the end zone from 14 yards out, at 4:09. He went to the right side to score the two-point conversion and the Cats led 8-0.

At 8:30 of the second quarter, quarterback Spencer Miller ran the ball in from eight yards out. The conversion failed and the Bobcats led 14-0. The lead increased to 22-0, when running back Colton Rapp took the ball down the left side, for a 35 yard touchdown, at 4:02 and Bailey scored the two-point conversion. Kreibel, a wide receiver, scored on a run to the left, covering 32 yards. A 30+ yards pass from Miller to Ty Burford set up the score. Running back, Kyle Patterson ran up the middle for the two-point conversion and with 1:01 left in the half, the Cats led 30-0.

With Redbank Valley backed up against their goal line, Clarion moved the score to 36-0, with just 12 seconds on the clock, as Thomas Wurster deflected a screen pass into the hands of Dominic Fleming who returned it for a touchdown.

Clarion scored three times in the third quarter. Kreibel had a 25 yard touchdown run to the left side, at 7:26. The 2 point conversion failed and the Cats led 42-0. The next Bobcat score came on a safety, with 3:54 left in the quarter, as defensive end Micah Custer blocked a Redbank Valley punt and a Bulldog player fell on it in the end zone. The score was now 44-0.

Kreibel put the Cats up 50-0, at 1:25 of the third, running down the left side and then cutting across the field to the right side, for 16 yards and a touchdown. Bailey ran over the right side for the two-point conversion, to move the score to 52-0.

A 42 yard touchdown run up the middle, by Patterson, with 4:27 left in the game, set the 58-0 final. The Cats elected to take a knee, instead of going for the PAT. With 9 seconds left in the game, Miller returned an interception, up the Clarion sideline, for 20 yards.

The Bobcat JVs will host the Karns City Gremlins on Monday (September 22).
