Basketball: Lady Cats Bounce Back After Loss To VC, With Win At NC (02/08/15)

The Clarion Area Girls Basketball Team played two away games on successive days, falling to Venango Catholic 51-34 on Friday (February 6th) and defeating North Clarion 54-19, on Saturday (February 7th).

The Lady Vikings led 12-8, after one, 28-16, at the half and 42-24 after three periods. A 10-9, Lady Cat advantage in the fourth set the 51-34 final.

Kelly Beveridge led Clarion with 8 points, followed by Maci Thornton with six. Julie Kenneson, Gloria Kroh and Maya Thornton had four points apiece. Anna Reed, Jenna Beichner, Lauren Wiser and Nicki Glenn each had two.

For Venango Catholic, which clinched the KSAC North with the win: Ava Homan had 25 and Taylor Moltz had thirteen.

NORTH CLARION GAME

The Lady Cats bounced back on Saturday, with the win at Frills Corners.

Clarion led 11-4 after one, 25-9 at the half and 39-11 after three. A 15-8 Lady Cat advantage, in the fourth, set the final at 54-19.

Two Lady Cats scored in double figures, Maci Thornton with 17 and Nicki Glenn with twelve. Anna Reed and Gloria Kroh each had seven points. Kelly Beveridge scored 4 points, Maddi Weaver, Jenna Beichner and Lauren Wiser each had 2 and Julie Kenneson scored one.

Tori Obenrader had 7 and Abbie Schmader had six for the Lady Wolves.

Clarion and North Clarion will meet again on Monday, at Clarion.
