Janney Downs CCCB In Season Opener (04/26/15)

In a very well-played opening day game, Janney defeated Clarion County Community Bank, 9-2, on
Saturday (April 25th)afternoon at Paul A. Weaver Park.

The game was marked by outstanding defensive plays by both teams, including a diving catch by CCCB’s catcher Jordan Best on a foul pop up.

The game was scoreless through the first inning, but Janney broke through for 6 runs, in the bottom of the second, to take the lead.

CCCB countered with one run in the third and one in the fourth. Janney plated one in the bottom of the fourth and two in the fifth, to set the final.

Kendall Dunn and Kaitlyn Constantino led Janney with two hits apiece, with one of Constantino’s being a double. Monica Heath and Noel Anthony also singled for Janney.

Constantino was the winning pitcher and threw all six innings, giving up 2 runs on three hits and striking out eleven.

Ava Cherico doubled for CCCB, while Jordan Best and Alayna Smith had singles.

Abby Simpson threw well for CCCB, giving up 6 hits and striking out five.
