Little League Softball: Janney Downs C&A Trees (04/28/15)

(By Janney Manager, Dave Constantino)

Janney used timely hitting and strong pitching Tuesday night to defeat C&A 15-0 (in a Clarion Area Little League Softball game) at Paul A Weaver Park.

Janney jumped out to a 6-0 lead after the first inning and continued to add to their lead with 2 runs in both the second and third innings, and 5 in the fourth.

Sierra Brown led the way with a home run while Kendall Dunn and Brenna Campbell each had two singles. Monica Heath doubled and Kaitlyn Constantino, Sydney Simpson, and Noel Anthony each had base hits for Janney.

Constantino was dominant on the mound striking out 9 of the 10 girls she faced in the game and walking one in the three innings she pitched.  Monica Heath came on for the save, pitching a scoreless 4th inning. She gave up one hit to C&A’s Paolo Lopez and walked two.

There were several nice defensive plays for both teams as Janney’s catcher Dunn threw out a runner stealing third and C&A’s Olivia Kiser made a nice stop on a hard hit ball and dove to tag third for a force play.
