Clarion Area Track And Field Teams Post Sweep Against Union (04/28/18)

The Clarion Area Track and Field Teams traveled to Union on Wednesday (April 25th) and came away with a pair of victories. The Lady Cats won 98-42, while the Bobcats won 109-41.

For the Lady Cats:

Laken Lewis won four individual events, long jump (15-4), triple jump (33-5), high jump (5-1) and pole vault (8-0). Kyara Girvan won three individual events, 100 (14.3), 200 (29.4) and 400 (1:19).

Gabby Weaver won both the 100 hurdles (18.9) and 300 hurdles (56.2). Maddie Schill took the javelin (78-6), Phylicia Hockman was victorious in the 800 (2:48) and Gabriella Fleming won the 3200 (15;05).

Clarion took all three relays. Weaver, Hockman, Lexie Lauer and Ali Troese won the 4×100 (56.9). Girvan, Troese, Weaver, and Hockman were victorious in the 4×400 (4:35). Troese, Fleming, Grace Matson and Hockman won the 4×800 (13:26).

For the Bobcats:

Five Bobcats were double-winners in individual events. Brendan Zerfoss won the 100 (11.3) and 200 (22.9). Nathaniel Lerch was victorious in the 1600 (4:53) and 3200 (11:08). Marshall Powers took both the 100 hurdles (20.1) and 3oo hurdles (44.6).

Two event winners in the field events were Gavin Brinkley who won both the long jump (18-7) and triple jump (36-0.5) and Clayton McElravy who took the shot put (35-6.5) and discus (94-5).

 

Austin Hummell won the 400 (56.4) and Noah Schill was victorious in the 800 (2:10)

The Cats won all three relays. The 4×100 relay was victorious (42.7) (names not available at posting time). Zerfoss, Noah Schill, Hummell and Powers won the 4×400 (4:01) and Jacob Smith, Nick Schill, Noah Schill and Hummell won the 4×800 (9:05).

Clarion Area competed in the Mars Invitational on Friday (April 27th). That meet will be covered in a separate article. Next week’s schedule has The Cats and Lady Cats visiting Moniteau on Tuesday (May 1st) and hosting Karns City on Thursday (May 3rd).
