Lady Cats Ninth, Bobcats Eleventh In 2018 Mars Track And Field Invitational (04/28/18)

The Clarion Area Track and Field Teams competed in the 2018 Mars Invitational on Friday, April 27th, with the Lady Cats finishing in ninth place and the Bobcat Boys capturing eleventh place. Thirty-nine teams competed in the event. The top six athletes in each event received medals.

Lady Cats (Ninth Place)

Laken Lewis led the way for the Lady Cats, garnering three medals, including first place in the pole vault (10-4), second place in the high jump (4-11.5) and fifth in the triple jump (33-11). Lewis also had a tenth place finish in the long jump 15-10.5).

Lexi Lauer medaled in the high jump (4-11.5), good for fourth place. She also competed in the triple jump (30-2), finishing twenty-second. Phylicia Hockman finished seventeenth in the 800 (2:35.39). Gabby Weaver was twenty-second in the 300 hurdles (54.24).

The 4×100 relay (11:49.90) comprised of Ali Troese, Gabriella Fleming, Grace Matson and Phylicia Hockman finished sixteenth. Kyara Girvan, Troese, Weaver and Hockman were twenty-first in the 4×400 relay (5:01.56).

Maddie Schill also competed for the Lady Cats.

Bobcats (Eleventh Place)    

Brendan Zerfoss won the 200 (22.61) after posting a 22.69 in the preliminaries. He finished seventh in the 100 (11.67). He ran an 11.49 in the preliminaries.

Nick Schill, Don Cunningham, Noah Schill and Austin Hummell joined forces to finish second in the 4×800 relay (8:41.72).

Hummell just missed a medal, finishing seventh in the 800 (2:03.46). Nathaniel Lerch was eighth in the 3200 (10:37.32). Gavin Brinkley finished tenth in the triple jump (38-11) and nineteenth in the long jump (18-3.5). Marshall Powers was twelfth in the 300 hurdles (43.30) and twenty-third in the 200 (24.76).

Noah Schill finished seventeenth in the 800 (2:09.03), Nick Schill was eighteenth in the 1600 (5:00.08) and Frank Weber was nineteenth in the 3200 (11:24.25).

 

Other Bobcat Boys competing were Ethan Burford, Tom Hearst and Daniel Ketner.
