Basketball Round-up: Bobcats 2nd At Truance Tournament, Lady Cats Win Consolation Game At Kane (12/29/18)

Both Clarion Area Basketball Teams were in tournament action on Thursday and Friday (December 27th-28th), with the Bobcat Boys placing second in the Carl Truance Holiday Tournament at Punxsutawney and the Lady Cats competing in the Kane Christmas Tournament, where they won the consolation game.

BOYS: The Bobcats opened the tourney on Thursday with a 62-59 win over Bald Eagle. Cal German Led the Cats with 18 points and Archer Mills followed with ten.

Bald Eagle led 33-19 at the half, but Clarion came on strong in the third, outscoring the Eagles 30-15 in the third to take a 49-48 lead heading to the last stanza.

Bald Eagle’s Nathan Hoover scored seventeen.

The Bobcats fell to host Punxsutawney 58-46 in the Championship Game.

Nick Frederick led the Cats with 12 points, while German scored eleven.

Punxy’s Darren Byers finished with fourteen points.

GIRLS: The Lady Cats fell in their opening game to host Kane 51-42.

Kane led 8-4 after one. The Lady Cats led at the half 19-17, with the She-Wolves leading 34-30 at the three quarter mark.

K. K. Girvan led Clarion with 18 points and 5 steals and Kait Constantino followed with 12 points and eight rebounds.

Ella Margoni led Kane with twenty.

The Lady Cats rebounded with a 62-41 win against Eisenhower in the Consolation Game.

Clarion had four players score in double-figures. Girvan again led the Lady Cats, scoring thirteen points. Constantino and Jordan Best each added 12 and Ali Troese followed with eleven.

The Lady Cats led 15-10 after one, 35-18 at the half and 53-31 after three.

Eisenhower’s Lydia Giannini had twenty points.

Girvan was named to the All-Tournament Team. Congratulations to K. K. !!!!
