Basketball Roundup: Lady Cats Go 3-0, Bobcat Boys 1-1 On Week (01/26/19)

Girls: The Clarion Area Lady Cats have a very good week going 3-0. They defeated homestanding Redbank Valley 56-48 on Monday (January 21st), downed Karns City 55-21 at home on Tuesday (January 22nd) and then defeated Clarion-Limestone 57-27 at Strattanville on Friday (January 25th).

Kait Constantino led the Lady Cats against Redbank Valley, with nineteen points. Wendy Beveridge added 13 points, while collecting 7 blocks, 6 rebounds and a steal. Jordan Best had ten rebounds.

The score was tied 8-all after one. Clarion led 29-19 at the half and 41-38 after three. A 15-10 fourth quarter, Clarion advantage set the 56-48 final.

Tara Hinderliter led the Lady Bulldogs with nineteen.

The Lady Cats held the Lady Gremlins to single digits in each quarter, in their 55-21 win on Tuesday.

Clarion had three players in double-figures. Constantino scored nineteen points again, to lead Clarion. Ali Troese added 14 points, while K. K. Girvan chipped in with eleven. Beveridge just missed double-figures with nine points, while collecting 6 blocks, 6 assists and five rebounds.

The Lady Cats led 19-5 after one, 30-11 at the half and 49-15 at the three-quarter mark.

Girvan was the high scorer, on Friday, with fifteen points, in the Lady Cats 57-27 win over the Lady Lions. Constantino added 11, while Beveridge contributed ten.

Clarion led 16-4 after one, 30-11 at the half and 48-17 after three.

Francis Milliron had nine for C-L.

Boys: The Bobcats downed homestanding Redbank Valley 63-62, on Monday (January 21st) but lost to visiting Clarion-Limestone 74-55, on Friday (January 25th).

Cal German led the Cats and all scorers, with twenty-four points. Nick Frederick chipped in with 17 points, while gathering in seven rebounds.

Clarion led 17-12 after one period and 30-12 at intermission, but trailed 47-40 after three, before scoring a 23-15 advantage in the fourth, to secure the one-point win.

Chris Marshall scored 20 points to lead the Bulldogs.

Frederick led the Cats with 12 points, followed by Jake Burns ten, in Friday’s loss to the Lions.

C-L led 20-14 after one, 39-31 at the half and 60-42 after three.

The Lions’ Ian Callen led all scorers with twenty-six. His brother Hayden followed with eighteen.

The Bobcats travel to Venango Catholic, for their next game, on Tuesday (January 29th) and the Lady Cats travel to Cranberry on Friday (February 1st).
