Lady Cats Volleyball Team Plays Tough Against State College (10/21/19)

The Clarion Area Lady Cats, the Number 1 ranked Class-A team in the state, traveled to State College on Thursday, for a clash with the Lady Little Lions, the number 3 ranked Class-AAAA team.

The Lady Cats who consistently seek out tough competition throughout the commonwealth played strong against the much larger school, despite falling 3-1, there first dual meet loss of the season.

State College claimed the first game 25-19. The Lady Cats bounced back with a 25-23 win in game two and then took the Lions to extras before dropping game three by two points 27-25. Altoona won the fourth game 25-19.

Korrin Burns had a big match, scoring 8 points, and registering 14 kills and nineteen digs. Brenna Campbell dished out 26 assists, while scoring 7 points (1 ace) and getting six digs. Kait Constantino had 5points, 9 kills and ten digs.

Kyara Girvan scored 5 points, to go along with nineteen digs. Maddie Schill had 5 points (2 aces), 2 kills and a dig. Aryana Girvan had 7 kills, 6 digs,and 2 points (1 ace) and Payton Simko registered three kills.

The Clarion Area Junior Varsity fell to State College 2-0 (9-25, 19-25).

Bri Pierce had 2 points and five digs. Jordan Best scored 2 points and had 2 kills and three digs. Grace Ochs scored 2 points (1 ace), and had a kill and a dig.

Adia Needham scored two points. Noel Anthony had 1 kill, 2 assists and a dig. Bailey Rupert had 4 digs and Bri Forest registered a kill.

The Lady Cats participated in the prestigious North Allegheny Tournament, on Saturday. CSZ will have an article on the tournament shortly.
