Kate Constantino Leads Lady Cats To Victory Over Lady Berries (12/20/19)

Led by Kate Constantino’s 32 points, the Clarion Area Lady Cats downed the visiting Cranberry Lady Berries 49-43, in a KSAC Large School Division match-up, on Thursday (December 19th).

The Cats found themselves down early, with the Berries jumping out to a 5-0 lead and led 15-7 after one. KK Girvan’s two-point shot and a three-pointer and two free throws by Constantino accounted for the Bobcats points in the quarter. Constantino sank an amazing 21-of-23 from the foul line, on the night.

Clarion chipped away at the Cranberry lead in the second quarter, with Constantino hitting six more free throws, Jordan Best hitting two from the line and Girvan hitting a pair of two-point shots. Girvan’s second bucket of the period, was a buzzer-beater that pulled the Cats to within two, at 21-19.

With two free throws and a three-point bucket by Best and three two-point field goals by Constantino, in the third, Clarion led by one 30-29 headed into the last stanza.

The Lady Cats pulled away for the 49-43 victory, with a 19-14 advantage in the fourth. Payton Simko hit a pair of two-pointers and Constantino hit on a two and 13-of-fifteen shots from the line.

The Berries were led by Kaia Dean and Ava Ferringer, with 11 and 10 points respectively.

The Lady Cats will next be in action in the Kane Holiday Tournament, on Friday and Saturday, December 27th-28th.
