Bobcat Junior High Wrestlers Capture Third Place At Port Allegany Tournament (01/12/20)

The Clarion Junior High wrestlers had a fine showing at the Port Allegany Tournament on Saturday, January 11th. The Bobcats finished in third place, out of the eleven teams competing, finishing behind only champion Curwensville and Port Allegany and Coudersport who tied for second.

Eight of the ten Bobcat grapplers entered came away with medals, with one first place finisher, three seconds place and four third place finishers.

Mason Gourley (108) finished in first place for the Cats. Second place finishers included Zane Van Tassel (94), Derek Smail (190) and Josh Beal (210). Finishing third were Kayden Ferguson (80), Logan Powell (101), Holden Sparks(138) and Dawson Smail (155).

Also competing were Ethan Lloyd (87) and Gavin Hannold (145). Brock Champluvier (250) wrestled in four exhibition matches, winning them all.

Coach Lee Weber said, “Another strong showing for the Junior High Clarion Bobcats! (I’m) very proud of these boys for their efforts and commitment to the weekend!” 

The Cats will host Punxsutawney on Thursday (January 16th). The Junior High match will begin at 6:00PM, with the Varsity match to start at 7:00PM. Then on Saturday (January 18th), the Bobcats will host the Clarion Odd Age Tournament.
