Junior High Boys Basketball B-Team Off To 8-0 Start (02/13/20)

The Clarion Area Junior High Boys Basketball Team is having a great season, currently sporting a 8-0 record.

Coach Jason Craig shares this summary:

Thursday, January 23rd Clarion 29 – Union 23

The Junior High Boys B-team tipped off it’s season at Union and came away with a 29 – 13 win. The score was close after one quarter (9-6) but the boys picked it up and slowly pulled away and led 17 – 7 at the half. 

Defense was the key in the third, as the Bobcats held the Golden Knights to no points in the stanza to lead 29 – 7 heading to the fourth.

Owen Kriebel and Noah Harrison lead the way for the Junior Bobcats, scoring 10 points each.  James Keenan followed with 4 points.  Rounding out the scoring were Tanner Miller (2), Matt Alston (2) and Jameson McIlwaine (1).

O. Saylor had 7 points for the Knights

Friday, January 24th Clarion 23 – Keystone 22

The Junior High Boys B-Team played their second game of back to back games by hosting the Panthers of Keystone.  The team improved to 2 – 0 by winning a thriller 23 – 22.

The back and forth battle saw Clarion hold an 8 – 5 lead after 1 quarter, only for Keystone to take the lead before half by a score of 15 – 10.  Clarion battled back in the third, to tie the game at 17 heading into the fourth.  Clarion narrowly outscored Keystone by a score of 6 – 5 in the quarter to set the final at 23 – 22.

James Keenan and Noah Harrison had game high honors of 8 points each.  Brady Quinn added 6 points, while Owen Kriebel chipped in with one point.

Mason T. and Spencer H. each had 6 points for the Panthers.

Monday, January 27th Clarion 31 – North Clarion 16

Clarion’s Junior High Boys B-Team traveled to North Clarion, to take on the Wolves and came away with a dominating 31 – 16 win.  The win extends their unbeaten streak to three in a row, to improve to 3 – 0, on the young season.

The young Bobcats jumped out to an early 13 – 0 lead after one quarter and 20 – 6 at the half.  The teams played fairly even in the second half, with the Bobcats ahead 25 -10 after three quarters and finally 31 – 16 at the end.

Clarion had 10 different players score, led by James Keenan with 7.  Other scorers for the Bobcats were Brady Quinn and Tanner Miller (5), Ben Aaron (4), Noah Harrison, Ben Lambert, Isaac Lerch and Jameson McIlwaine (2) and Matt Alston (1).

Sully L. had a game high 10 points for North Clarion.

Wednesday, January 29 Clarion 34 – Forest Area 8

The Junior High Boys B-Team had 8 different players score on their way to a 34 – 8 win over the visiting Forest Fires.

Scores by quarter were as follows: First: 14 – 0; Second:  18 – 4; Third  28 – 6. Final  34 – 8

Matt Alston had a game high 8 points for Clarion.  Other scorers were Tanner Miller and James Keenan (6), Kam Kerle and Jameson McIlwaine (4), Owen Kriebel, Brady Pierce and Prakhar Singh (2).

The win keeps the team unbeaten at 4 – 0.

Thursday, January 30th Clarion 28 A-C Valley 20

The Junior High Boys B-Team took their perfect record on the road, to face the Falcons of A-C Valley and came away with a 28 – 20 win.

Scoring at the end of each quarter: First:  10 – 2; Second  19 – 1; Third  24 – 12. Final  28 – 20

Owen Kriebel, Wyatt Boyden and James Keenan led the way for the Bobcats with 6 points each.  Noah Harrison added 4 points while Brady Quinn and Isaac Lerch chipped in with three apiece.

The win improves their record to 5 – 0 on the season.

Monday, February 3rd Clarion 28 – Moniteau 24

The Clarion Junior High Boys B-Team traveled to Moniteau, to take on the Warriors. 

It was a tight game throughout, but the Bobcats pulled out a 28 – 24 win. Scoring by quarter: First  8 – 3; Second 9 – 8; Third  6 – 3 Fourth;  5 – 10. Final 28-24.

Owen Kriebel poured in 10 points for the Bobcats, while Tanner Miller added five.  Other scorers were Noah Harrison (4), James Keenan (3), Wyatt Boyden, Jameson McIlwaine and Brady Pierce (2).

Landon Kelly led the way for the Warriors with 8 points.

The win moves the Bobcats to 6 – 0 for the season.

Wednesday, February 5th Clarion 28 – Clarion-Limestone 27

The Junior High Boys B-Team took on the neighboring rivals from C-L, in a backyard brawl,that did not disappoint.  It was an exciting game to watch and the Bobcats won a hard fought game 28 – 27. The narrow win kept the unbeaten streak alive, now at 7 – 0.

Scoring by quarters: First 8 – 6; Second  8 – 6; Third  8 – 12; Fourth  4 – 3. Final 28-27

James Keenan led the way for Clarion with 9 points, followed by Tanner Miller with six. Tanner had a driving layup with 30 seconds left to give the Bobcats the lead for good.

Rounding out the scoring for the Bobcats were Jameson McIlwaine (4), Noah Harrison (3), Owen Kriebel, Matt Alston and Kam Kerle (2).

Logan Lutz had a game high 11 points for the Lions.

Monday, February 10th Clarion 26 – Redbank Valley 15

The Clarion Junior High Boys B-Team traveled to New Bethlehem to take on the Redbank Valley Bulldogs.  The 26 – 15 win improved their record to 8 – 0.

Scoring by quarter: First 9 – 2; Second  11 – 3; Third 4 – 6; Fourth  2 – 4. Final  26 – 15

Owen Kriebel scored a game high 8 points for Clarion with Wyatt Boyden netting 5, including a 3 pointer.  Other scorers for Clarion were Tanner Miller and James Keenan (4), Noah Harrison and Jameson McIlwaine (2) and Matt Alston (1).

R. Rupp, I. Gourley, and B. Minich each had 4 points for the Bulldogs.
