Brenna Campbell Named Pennsylvania Player Of The Week By MaxPreps and American Volleyball Coaches Association (Posted 10/27/20)

Clarion Area Lady Cats’ senior, setter Brenna Campbell has been named Pennsylvania Player of the Week by MaxPreps and the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA), for the week of October 12th through 18th.

MaxPreps, “America’s source for high school sports,” is an online service that covers high school sports throughout the nation. They team up with the AVCA, the leading volleyball organization in the U.S., to each week name a Player of the Week for each of the 50 states.

According to the MaxPreps website: “The MaxPreps/AVCA High School Player of the Week Program is a partnership between the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) and CBS MaxPreps, Inc. Each week MaxPreps and the AVCA recognize deserving student-athletes at the high school level who have demonstrated outstanding play on the court throughout the week of competition.

The website gives these stats for Brenna (who has been named All-State, by the Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association (PVCA), for each of the previous years) on the week: Assists: 154; Assists/Game: 10.27; Team Hitting%: 0.377; Digs: 21; Digs/Game: 1.4; Aces: 8; Blocks: 1.

The Lady Cats posted five victories during the week of October 12th through 18th, with wins over North Clarion, Cranberry, Moniteau, General McLane and Corry. Clarion won all the matches in straight sets.

Tuesday, October 13th – at North Clarion

Brenna dished out 22 assists, scored 16 points (2 aces) and recorded seven digs, in helping the Lady Cats down the She-Wolves by scores of 25-7, 25-9, 25-10.

Wednesday, October 14th – at Cranberry

Clarion Area downed the Lady Berries 25-15, 25-10, 25-19, with Brenna contributing 35 assists, 8 points (1 ace), 4 digs and a pair of kills.

Thursday, October 15th – Moniteau at home

Brenna had 34 assists, 17 points (4 aces) and two digs, as Clarion downed the Lady Warriors 25-5, 25-5, 25-21.

Saturday, October 17th at Corry (facing General McLane and Corry)

The first match saw the Lady Cats defeating the the General McLane Lady Lancers 25-9, 25-12 and 25-11. Brenna posted 24 assists, 13 points, a kill and a pair of digs.

Brenna followed the her that performance by dishing out 39 assists, while also collecting 6 digs, 5 points (1 ace) and a kill, in the second match, as the Lady Cats downed the host Lady Beavers 25-16, 25-15, 25-22.

A very impressive week for this fine young lady and a very well deserved honor!! Congratulations to Brenna and all your Lady Cat teammates/sisters, who I’m sure share in your happiness in receiving this prestigious accolade!!!!
