Baseball: Bobcats Fall To Knights

The homestanding Clarion Area Bobcats dropped a 17-12 non-conference baseball game to the Franklin Knights, at Clarion County Park on Saturday (April 10th).

The Knights put two runs across in the top of the first, with the Cats answering with two in the bottom of the inning, to knot the score at 2-2. Clarion held Franklin off the scoreboard in each of the next three innings, while scoring five in the second and a run in both the third and fourth to hold a 9-2 lead.

Franklin moved to within three, at 9-6, with four runs in the top of the fifth, but Clarion plated two runs in the bottom of the inning for an 11-6 lead. The Knights scored six runs in the sixth inning and another five in the seventh, with the Bobcats closing the scoring with a run in the bottom of the seventh.

Dawson Smail led the Bobcats, going 4-for-5, with 2 RBIs and three runs scored. Cole Slaugenhoup went 3-for-4 and scored two runs. Cameron Lapinto singled and had three RBIs and scored a run. Hunter Craddock had one hit, an RBI and a run scored.

Devon Lauer singled and scored three runs. Ryan Alston drove in a run and scored once. Brady Quinn scored twice, Dauntae Girvan drove in a run and Bryce Brinkley scored a run.

The Bobcats travel to Cranberry on Monday (April 12th).
