Inaugural D9and10Sports.com/Clarion County YMCA High All-Star Basketball Games Held On Sunday

The inaugural D9and10Sports.com/Clarion County YMCA Basketball All-Star Games were held at the YMCA on Sunday (April 18th). The event, which saw the Girls’ Team White downing Team Blue 77-69 in the first game and Boys’ Team Blue defeating Team White 116-107 in the nightcap, gave talented graduating seniors from District 9 and Warren County in District 10 an opportunity for one last “hurrah.”

A number of Clarion Area players contributed. Ava Cherico scored the final two points for Team White in the Girls’ Game. Erica Selfridge was scheduled to play, but was prevented due to a previous commitment.

Cal German and Beau Verdill had 12 points each in the Boys’ Game, with Hunter Craddock scoring 3 points and pulling down with eleven rebounds. Clarion Area Coach Scott Fox and Warren’s Jeff Berdine were the Coaches for Team White.

Keystone’s Emily Lauer, who scored 19 points for Team White. was named Girls’ MVP and Brookville’s Jayce Miner, who scored 17 points for Team Blue, was named Boys’ MVP.

Other players from Keystone Shortway Athletic Conference schools included:

Boys’ Team White: Keystone’s Colin Say (14 points); Clarion-Limestone’s Hayden Callen (10 points) and A-C Valley’s Levi Orton (8 points).

Boys’ Team Blue: Karns City’s Chase Beighley (9 points); and Venango Catholic’s Andrew Burda (2 points). Clarion’s Scott Fox was one of Team Blue’s Coaches along with Warren’s Jeff Berdine. Karns City’s Nathan Waltman was invited to play but had other commitments.

Girls’ Team Blue: Cranberry’s Ava Ferringer (9 points); and Moniteau’s Asyn Pry (4 points).

A number players who have played for Rising Stars travel team from the Clarion Area competed in the Boys’ Game, including: German, Craddock, Callen, Orton, DuBois’ Lennon Lindholm (Team Blue – 18 points) and Nick Felix (Team Blue – 10 points), and Brookville’s Robert Keth (Team Blue – 18 points). Lauer also played for the Rising Stars Girls’ Team.
