Evelyn Lerch finished her junior season for the North Clarion She-Wolves, at the 2021 PIAA State Class-AA Track and Field Championships, at Shippensburg University’s Seth Grove Stadium, on Friday, May 28th.

Competing in the 400 meters, Evelyn turned in a time 1:01 flat, which placed her third in her heat and seventeenth over-all. For Evelyn, who is a student at Clarion Area, this was her first season with the She-Wolves, as Clarion Area joined with North Clarion and Forest Area (East and West Forest Schools) in their track and field co-op.

Evelyn also reached states, running for the Lady Cats as a freshman, in 2019. Their was no state meet in 2019 due to covid.

North Clarion Head Coach Doug Jackson had this to say Evelyn’s season, “Besides Evelyn’s athleticism, I have been impressed by her versatility, dedication, and competitive focus. Evelyn had a great season, and I look forward to seeing what she accomplishes next year as a senior.”

And as for the benefits and camaraderie achieved by Clarion joining with North Clarion and Forest Area, Coach Jackson said, “The co-op of Clarion student athletes joining North Clarion and Forest Area for track was a tremendous success. The season produced a lot of highlights on the track and in the field, however the best part was witnessing the bonds that have formed between athletes, coaches, and families.”

Coach Jackson is hoping that this season was a catalyst for the future of the program, “We hope to see more student athletes from all four schools be a part of our track family next year.”
